Mr. Shea established and was Executive Director of Sales for the Sandoz Dorsey Division. Prior to that, he started and headed the Sandoz Pediatric sales force.

As a marketer, he successfully launched four major products to the U.S. market, two of which became the most prescribed drugs in their categories. Mr. Shea's extensive marketing background includes cardiovascular agents, antidepressants, and hypnotics. He spent two years dedicated to innovative new business start-ups for Sandoz (now Novartis). With fellow principal, Jim Schmidt, Mr. Shea founded MC Access in 1995.

He is a member of the Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy and the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists, and currently serves on the Board of Directors of the National Institute Against Nicotine Addiction (NIANA‘).

Jim Schmidt

Jim Schmidt, MC Access cofounder, continues an extremely broad-based, thirty-plus year career in the pharmaceutical industry.

Mr. Schmidt held key positions with Sandoz Pharmaceuticals Corporation in the dermatology, allergy, and immunology areas. He developed and implemented a series of clinical research training programs that were instrumental in securing strong, research-related relationships with academic medical centers, as well as with the University Hospital Consortium, Premier Hospitals Alliance, and Humana.

In 1986, Mr. Schmidt made the transition from research to marketing, gaining hands-on product management experience.

In the managed care arena, Mr. Schmidt offers both marketing and sales experience. As a managed care marketer, he has achieved a track record as an innovator of new programs and services.
